rafael’s iron dome
The Iron Dome by RAFAEL is the most deployed missile defense system in the world. It has a success rate in excess of 90% and has over two thousand interceptions.
The RAFAEL Iron Dome system can protect forces, strategic assets, urban and populated areas, and the FOB (Forward Operating Base), from a huge variety of aerial and indirect attacks and threats.
Threats protected against included Cruise Missiles, C-RAM, PGM (Precise Guided Missile), ABT (Air Breathing Threats), dense salvos, and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).
This defense system is combat-proven. The Iron Dome is an intelligent system capable of detecting and assessing threats before intercepting them with excellent accuracy. It effectively counters aircraft, UAVs, mortars, artillery shells, short to medium-range rockets, and helicopters at a very short range.
This cost-effective interceptor is capable of functioning alone as a stand-alone system or it can be included as a layer of a multi-layer Air Defense System. It can be integrated into other V-SHORAD systems like the MML (Multi-Mission Launcher) used by the U.S. Army.
No matter the time of day or the weather, the Iron Dome works just as well with its quick reaction time. It can cope with fog, low clouds, dust storms, and rain with ease.
The Iron Dome has an innovative design. It has all of its components on a single truck with a 6×6 truck chassis. It has 10 Iron Dome interceptors, a BMC (Battle Management & Control) operating system, and a radar. All interceptors are sealed in ready-to-launch canisters in groups on the Iron Dome’s turret.
All in all, the Iron Dome system provides selective, robust defense. Capable of discriminating between threats, it deals with threats that are headed towards protected areas while leaving those that don’t pose a risk. It is, therefore, a good investment that limits unnecessary launches and reduces costs.
